In the remote small town of Xiangxi, Hunan Province, Liu Yue, a kind and diligent country woman, runs a successful brick-making plant. Lifu, her husband, left the countryside two years before in an attempt to make his fortune. Yet he returns home a failure. Yuxiu,, a widow, runs a public bathhouse. Yuxiu and Lifu were once in love with each other. Sponsored by Yuxiu, Lifu opens a karaoke ballroom and their love is renewed. Where will this lead?
