Li Laifu is a kind-hearted umbrella repair man. He’s 50, but still single. Before the day of his marriage, his fiancée finds a baby called Chouchou in Li’s bed. She calls off the engagement and leaves. Liu Tingting, Chouchou’s mother has mistaken Li for Chouchou’s father, who has the same name. In order to get to revenge on Chouchou’s father for deserting both the baby and herself, she has put the baby in Li’s bed. Li takes good care of Chouchou and helps Tingting to find Chouchou’s real father. But Chouchou’s father rejects the baby. In despair, Tingting decides to go abroad to marry, and leave Chouchou in Li’s care. At the airport Tingting takes an umbrella, on which is written “Home” in both English and Chinese, from Li. She is deeply moved, and changes her mind.
