In Hong Kong, a diamond is stolen. Ren Qiyuan, a private detective, is hired to find it. He tails two suspects to a city in north China, where a Hong Kong businessman is murdered in a luxury hotel. Zhang Min, the local police captain in charge of the case is suspicious of two Hong Kong people. During the investigation Zhang rescues Ren from the two criminals. PRC and HK detectives join forces on the case, capture the criminals.
