Blood and Tears (xue lei en chou lu)

The story is set in a certain town in southern China in ancient times. Miss Bu Qiaozhen goes to a temple to redeem a vow with her maid, Juxiang. But they are attacked by scoundrels. Qiaozhen is saved by Deng Bingru. And Juxiang comes across her lover, Shi Zhizhang, who is going to the capital to take an examination. Deng Bingru is an evil lecher who insults and kills many girls. He seduces Qiaozhen and then kills her in a brutal way. Juxiang lodges a complaint against Deng Bingru and asks Shi Zizhang, who is now the official in charge of this case, to convict Deng Bingru. But Shi’s sister, who is also Deng’s wife, asks Shi to have mercy on her husband. At the trail Deng denies he is guilty. Deng’s butler testifies against him by showing a bloodstained mandarin duck. Finally She Zhizhang passes sentence, and the brutal Deng Bingru is executed.
