An Actress in Drag (nan zi han wu ting de nu ming xing)

A little housemaid, Guli, is selected by chance to play the lead role of a girl dressed as a man. In drag, she travels around Xinjiang to experience life with the associate director and the scriptwriter. On their way, they come across a team of customs investigators. The six young men of the team with their enthusiasm and warmheartedness induce Guli to leave ther companion. Guli accompanies the team around Xinjiang viewing the beautiful scenery and customs. Guli also falls in love with the leader of the team, Abu Lizi. She fulfills her task of experiencing life. Abu Lizi is also taken on to play the male lead role. Their love achieves a happy ending.
