Death at the Carefree Mansion (suo ming shao yao luo)

During the reign of Emperor Tongzhi of the Qing Dynasty (1644-1911), Commander Bai Chong of Yanzhou Town holds parties everyday at the sinister “Carefree Mansion”. Some 18 years previously Bai Chong had got gangster Shan Biao to kill the whole family of WenYuan, the magistrate of Yanzhou, over the theft of a valuable vase, and then issued a warrant for Shan Biao’s arrest. Shan Biao breaks into the “Carefree Mansion” to get revenge on Bai Chong, but almost loses his life and is saved by Shen Long, who is looking for his mother in the mansion. The daughter of Wen Yuan, Shan E, fails many times to break into the mansion to avenge her father. Bai Chong reveals to her that the murderer was her foster father, Shan Biao. With the help of Shen Long, Shan E destroys the mansion and kills Bai Chong. Shan Biao commits suicide. The truth comes to light finally.
