Blood Shed at the Corner of the World (xue sa tian ya)

This film is based on the story of Zhang Huangyan, a well-known general who resisted the government in the early years of the Qing Dynasty. Xu Yuan, an army officer under Zhang Huangyan, defects to the Qing Court and kills Zhang Huangyan. Qingfeng and Guanyu, also officers under Zhang, have a narrow escape. Out of sorrow and indignation, they vow to take revenge. In bloody and ferocious fighting, all except Qingfeng are killed by the cunning Xu Yuan. Qingfeng then disguises herself as a man and travels to solicit help from the heroic Luo Zimu. Luo decides to take up the cause of justice. But on meeting Xu Yuan, Luo finds Xu a changed and repentant man, so Luo abandons his plan to kill Xun. Xu feels so guilty he commits suicide.
